Never Enough Time September 1, 2009

I shoved myself out of bed this morning, bemoaning the fact that I hadn’t had enough sleep, which was partly due to the fact that my dog and one of the cats did their darndest to wake me up at 4:00, partly due to the fact that I stayed up too late reading and partly due to the fact that my alarm goes off to durned early.

I spent twenty miserable minutes on the treadmill, knowing that it was not enough and that if I were REALLY serious about fitness I’d move the alarm to 5:30 or even 5:15 and spend 30-45 minutes on the treadmill every morning.

I sat and petted the dog for a few minutes and he told me that I didn’t spend enough time with him, and I didn’t even try to spend time with any of the six cats. There’s never enough time to spend with them either.

And tonight when I get home, the whole cycle will start all over again as I try to cram all the things I have to do in the short space of time between walking in the front door and collapsing into bed.

There’s just never enough time, but I guess it beats the alternative.
